The New Castle Common

The Great Island Common is comprised of 32 acres of seaside green space and beach. The Common is a Town of New Castle owned and operated park.

The Common is open to the public from 9AM to 9PM daily.

Starting on May 16th, 2026, the Town will be charging an admission fee for vehicles in accordance with its published rate schedule (see: GIC Information & Fees to the left of this page) when an attendant is present.  The Town does not offer discounted admission or rental fees for any groups (charitable, religious, non-profit, fraternal, educational, etc.)

Reservations for the Pavilions begin May 4, 2026 and will be done through the Town's Rec Desk website.  Pavilions and the Wedding area are available to rent whether you are a New Castle resident or not.  All accounts must be approved by staff, so we encourage you to make an account prior to May 4th. That will ensure that you can log in on May 4th and choose your preferred date. All reservations are on a first come, first served basis.  A limited number of non-resident parking passes will also be available for purchase on May 4th, 2026, also through the RecDesk. Non-Resident parking passes are SOLD OUT THIS YEAR (2026 passes)  

Wedding Reservations for the 2026 park season begin on January 5, 2026. We cannot accept any reservations beyond the current season.
